Noooooo! My twenties are slipping away!

I adore this girl. Bright and beautiful Philly blogger, Jamisonian.

It’s called “GOODBYE MY OLD SELF.”

Attention subsample women, ages 27 to 29:

Just a warning to some girls, perhaps like me: when you turn 27, some shit goes down. You have to work, like all the time, and guess what? You can’t quite hang the way you used to. But, it’s cool—you attribute this to work, not age. Totally acceptable denial.

I guess it’s time for me to finally wear that miniskirt.

I love SEPTA too

New blog I like. MustLoveSEPTA. Because you gotta love SEPTA. Even when you hate it. Take for instance my luck the other day. The 44 Bus wasn’t coming  fast enough for my liking. And I didn’t feel like taking the 38. So on a whim, I grabbed the first bus that came along (because you know Phillygrrl can find her way anywhere  in Philly using any bus at this point) which happened to be the 40. (I was also decidedly cranky as well until the bus driver cheered me up.) I ended up taking the sweetest ride ever through Chestnut Hill. Grabbed the 26 and was home in all of 20 minutes. MustLoveSEPTA indeed.

So MustLoveSEPTA and I have this plan. We want to take every single bus route in the city, just for the heck of it. Good way to sightsee and learn more about Philly. Great way to spend the summer. A recession-friendly tour through our very own city. What say you?

(I actually have another SEPTA-related plan spurred by a comment by BrendanCalling. Taking pictures of cute SEPTA babies Sartorialist-style. Because nobody can resist cute babies. Especially SEPTA-happy babies!)

And now…the ADDY Awards

Hit up the Philly Ad Club’s Philadelphia ADDY Awards Celebration at the Art Museum (and if you’re free, definitely check out the Cezanne exhibit). My first ADDY awards. Met some interesting folks.  Chatted with the Paragraph folks (who went on to win an award.) Also met Community Marketing Concepts, Inc. and the folks from Red Maiden. Fascinating to see the range of talents in Philly’s ad agencies.  Quite a lot of impressive work being done here that gets sent out nationally. My favorite local award campaign was the Neiman Group’s Full Apologies campaign done on behalf of the PA Department of Health. Check out the videos on the site.

I keep seeing this everywhere

It’s either a brilliant ad campaign. Or just the furthest departure from brand that I can think of. Wonder how folks will react to it. I know I’m intrigued. Looks like I’m not the only one who’s curious.

I saw this particular one at 15th and Girard, but I’ve seen them all over SEPTA buses. Continue reading
