Sam Donnellon, PW’s Sports Columnist certainly thinks so. Not quite sure. I have Chaneyesque-loyalties. At the same time, I must say Mr. Dunphy is quite the classy gent. Very polite, very much a good guy. Dude doesn’t miss a thing. I still have his business card. Never losing it either :p
Mr. Dunphy: Hi there young lady, what’s your name?
Me: *Mumbles.
Mr. Dumphy: Nice to meet. So what is it you do?
Me: *Mumbles.
Mr. Dunphy: Interesting! Well let me give you my card. And if you ever want to go to any games, let me know.
Me: *Mumbles.
Players: !!!! What coach! We didn’t know all that!?! How did you do that?!
Mr. Dunphy: Look boys, it pays to ask people about themselves. You have to be interested in people. You’ll always learn something interesting. Always remember that. Show interest in people.
Players: [Totally distracted by something else and ignoring him.]
Luckily I never forgot his advice :)
Also not convinced by the rather horrible photo essay of some of my darling players. (FYI, I hate organized sports, but I have a special place in my heart for certain Temple basketball gents I worked with as a post-grad.)
I’m wondering, does your mumbling have a context that is at all relevant to the questions that are being asked, or is it just random mumbling? I know I find artful random mumbling much more difficult to sustain.
Also, doesn’t Mr. Dunphy more or less compel his players to become involved in Big Brother related activities in and around the TU community? He seems a worthy replacement for the legendary JC.
My mumbling is besides the point. Artful dodging ;)
