WOW that’s expensive…

moneyTB on going back to school…

So I went to Montgomery County Community College or Mont. Co. and signed up for a history class. It ended up setting me back around $340 dollars. Is this normal over here? Supposedly the fee is $100 per credit or something like that. Maybe less not too sure. Back in California the tuition for the Community College I went to was $13 per credit… MAJOR leap in tuition I must say.

(At least the placement tests went well. I was surprised I did so well on my Math and English considering I haven’t been in school since I was 21… So now I get to skip 2 Math courses and 2 English courses.)

And another question to all the PA/Philly residents or East Coast people in general. When I sign up for a transfer program to a university do I get considered before other students? Or is that just wishful thinking? And if I keep my grades up will I get a scholarship for sure? Or is that a maybe?

It sucks being out of school for so long. But feels great being back.

Don’t drink and bike

It’s okay to be hipster and bike around town. But when you’re coming from a party, maybe it’s better to just walk/SEPTA it home.

A new study of New York City bicycling accidents over a decade found that one in five cyclists who died had alcohol in the body. [link]

Which reminds me, biking folk, don’t forget to take this survey!”

“The Philadelphia City Planning Commission (PCPC) is developing a pedestrian and bicycle plan for the City of Philadelphia. The plan will identify and help to prioritize strategies that will increase the number and frequency of people walking and bicycling within the City of Philadelphia. The plan will provide recommendations for improving the connectivity, safety, convenience, and attractiveness of the pedestrian and bicycle networks. And if you live in or around Philadelphia, we want to hear from you!

Your input is critical to help develop a plan that addresses the needs of people on foot and on bike in neighborhoods across the study area. But you don’t have to live in the study area to answer the questionnaire. We’re looking for responses from anyone who lives or works in Philadelphia. The questionnaire should take no more than 15 minutes to complete and will be available online for several months. Information collected will be confidential and used solely for developing the Philadelphia Pedestrian and Bicycle Plan.”

To complete the questionnaire, click here.

And if you have extra bike parts, don’t forget to donate ‘em.

Kthxluvyoubye.

He took it to the bank

So I was reading the Metro this morning and noticed a small paragraph on the second page:

“Habib Khan, 49, pleaded guilty yesterday to running an unlicensed money transmitting business in which he charged a fee to wire at least $2.1 million to Pakistan. He never registered the business and hid the transactions from a bank he worked with.”

Okay, who is this dude? Which bank did he work for? What is going on?

I ran across a press release and a couple of court documents, but no story.

Come-on media elite. You know I’m obsessed with Pakistan. Especially Swat Valley (according to the documents he was wiring the money there.)

What’s the real deal? Stupid small-time crook or terrorist mastermind?

Any guesses on the sentencing, folks?

My new ride

I love it.

Thanks a lot, b*tch…

PG regular ThabOOger on why every Californian should be ashamed of Ms. Cali…

Wow. I really hope the contestants in the Miss America pageant aren’t thought of as the official voice of the states they represent.

Thanks for making California look like a bunch of homophobic gay bashing assholes. I’m happy she lost. Not only was she a typical blond Barbie doll clone (no offense but I think California could have done better than this) but her answer was the total opposite of everything Californians are fighting for. Yes we do have out fair share of conservatives but we have way more liberals. Iowa? Seriously? My hats off to you and Vermont.

California?… California?… California?… Bueller?… hmm guess not.

On a lighter note, HAPPY 4/20 to America and the whole world! May all your dreams become legalized!

More Prom Madness

Remember last week, when I mentioned my little sister’s prom preparations? She’s not the only kid I know about to tackle prom. One of my pals from my church, Vishal, recently starred in a video he and some friends at from his high school came up. I think it’s brilliant. If only someone had made one for me when I was in high school!

Enjoy!
